Becoming Catholic

Welcome!

Thinking about becoming Catholic ... or completing your Sacraments?

If you are an adult seeking answers to questions about becoming Catholic, or are Catholic and want to receive the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist, we invite you to journey with us in OCIA.

Are you or someone you know searching for the truth, for God, and for the true Church?  Come and see what others have found in the Catholic Church.

The process of learning and discerning our Christian Way of Life is called the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults.

How do I get started?

Do I have to make a commitment to become Catholic before I begin the process?

You do not have to make a commitment to become Catholic prior to the start of the process.  The OCIA journey begins with your desire to learn more about becoming Catholic, and receiving the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.  You will have opportunities to have your questions answered, and participate in discussions and presentations to help you grow in your understanding of the Catholic faith prior to choosing to become a member of the Catholic Church and receive sacraments.  You will make the decision to receive sacraments when you are ready.

When does the process begin?

Before OCIA begins we invite you to join us for one or more evenings to learn more about the process and/or the Catholic faith.  These inquiry sessions are casual conversations that allow opportunities to get answers to your questions, and find out if this process is right for you.

This Fall 2026 we are offering a shortened OCIA program for those who have already been Baptized

        Fall OCIA program is 14 Weeks—meets Tuesdays 7:00pm - 8:30pm
             Begins Tuesday, August 18, 2026
             Culminates Sunday, November 22, 2026

What if I can't make it to all of the classes?

We work with everyone on an individual basis regarding their personal commitments and class schedule.  If you miss a class we will do our best to provide opportunities for you to learn about the topic that was covered.

How will this process help me decide whether I want to become Catholic?

  • You will gather with others on similar journeys, and have opportunities to share thoughts and ask questions.
  • You will journey with a sponsor who serves as a mentor and guide in living the Catholic faith.
  • You will be supported by the RCIA Team, made up of many volunteers who come together to serve.
  • You will be given opportunities to grow in your understanding of how Catholics come to know, love and serve God.

We look forward to meeting you!

I am happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the Catholic faith or the OCIA process.  I look forward to hearing from you!
